“Czech bass-baritone Jakub Osmera studied classical singing at the Prague Conservatory under Valentin Prolat, later continuing his education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW) and the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica, where he worked under the guidance of world-renowned bass Prof. Štefan Kocán.
During his studies, he became a laureate of numerous vocal competitions, including Prague Singer, the Competition of Conservatories, Pro Bohemia, Opera Hope, the Dušek Competition and the Bohuslav Martinu Competition, where he received the title of Absolute Winner and the Czech Radio Prize.
In 2019 he made his operatic debut as Carlino in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at the Victoria Theatre in Singapore and Baron Duphol in Vienna. In 2025, he presented his second album, Antonín Dvořák – Biblical Songs, recorded with the outstanding pianist Petr Novak, which has received widespread recognition and strong international response online.
Alongside his classical career, Osmera has been devoted to folk music and bagpipe performance since childhood. He has appeared as a soloist at the JoySing Festival in China and the Czech-In Film Festival, and was the first Czech winner of the national competition “Zpěváček” as well as a finalist of the television contest “Golden Nut”. He has collaborated with the Brno Radio Folk Orchestra, the VUS Ondráš Ensemble, and other Czech folk institutions. For his artistic work and contribution to the preservation of Czech traditions, he has received honors from the Monuments Chamber of the Czech Republic and the Pearl of the Pilsen Region Award.”
